I Wish I Could Fly … Like A Bird!

After writing my blog post about personally transitioning to more plant-based meals per week, I didn’t want to leave my readers thinking I am ignoring the huge impact gas-powered vehicles make on our environment.

It is obvious to me toxic pollutants in gasoline add to our air pollution. While I research alternative solutions for my personal transportation, it is interesting to read the pros and cons of gasoline versus electric-powered vehicles. I am not tackling any of that here since I truly know little about it all. What I do know, when I drive my van long distances, especially on long-distance trips, I try to take a few days not driving it at all. I will walk, bike ride (which is why I always carry my bicycle on trips) or use public transportation instead. I honestly do not know how much I offset the carbon emissions doing this, but I figure it is better than doing nothing.

Air travel is another huge concern of mine, especially since seeing the world is my life ambition. I get seasick and know boat/ship travel is not a workable solution for me in traveling around the world. (I do admire Greta though!) I’ll have to offset plane carbon-emissions another way. Carbon offset projects are available. Sites, such as carbonfootprint.com, will hep you calculate your emissions, provide steps to reduce your emissions, and offer offset projects you may consider. This is a way to fund emission-saving projects in another place equal to your emissions.

Whatever you choose to do, think about the environment … future humans … plant and animal wildlife … your impact on it all … and I wish you good health with any smart decisions.
